Maria & Chris ~ married

Posted on September 28, 2008

Maria & Chris had a gorgeous wedding at Maria’s parent’s house in Indiana. Maria called to book me about 3 weeks before the wedding, and I thought they had a situation where their original photographer canceled or something. Nope - Maria just wanted to get married in the Summer and didn’t want to wait until next year. Now there’s a girl who knows what she wants and makes it happen! I was absolutely blown away at how beautiful everything was with such a short time frame for planning.

One of my favorite parts of the whole evening was their first dance. Maria is Greek and they did a traditional Greek dance where everyone pays a dollar and gets to move up to the beginning of the circle to dance with the bride & groom. They even had a Greek DJ who sang throughout their reception - it was great!

Did I mention the Greek pastries were TO DIE FOR!! :)

Maria & Chris ~ It was so great meeting you and photographing your wedding! It was pretty obvious that you two are super special and it was a pleasure getting to know you and sharing in the joy of your wedding day. We wish you nothing but the best!

I hope you enjoy this slideshow…its something new I’m trying out :)

News…

I am still without power!! It is quite annoying, but at the same time, it is not that bad. We are so thankful that living without electricity for a week is our biggest issue…the poor people in Texas are dealing with MUCH worse. Most of our friends and family have power, so we’ve been going to different people’s houses every night to hang out & eat dinner. Since Sunday, all we do at home is sleep and shower (we still do have hot water - thankfully!). Yesterday morning I was driving across the Queen City viaduct and was getting very frustrated! I was stuck in some major traffic which normally wouldn’t bother me much, but I think I was letting the whole no electricity situation get to me. And then I looked up and saw this…

…and everything was better! Such a simple statement that means so much. My friends and I are pretty sure whoever was driving that car attends the Vineyard Westside (which is where we have been going to church lately) because that is their slogan/motto or whatever you want to call it.

In other news…I wanted to remind everyone that the wedding promotion is ending in 11 days!! Many of you have taken adavantage and received 10% off of your 2009 wedding package…but for those of you who are not early planners…you better hurry!

One more thing…OCTOBER IS BOOKED!! For those of you wanting to get your engagement (or other) sessions in this Fall, you better schedule your session for November before that fills up. I only have a few available dates left in November.

Sneak Peak ~ Maria & Chris

Posted on September 15, 2008

Hey Everyone! Along with 600,000 other people in the tri-state area, I am still without power. I am going on 32 hours without power - and it has definitely made me realize how every aspect of our lives is so dependent on it! Our friend Dan got power today and he was kind enough to invite us over for dinner and some Monday night football. I took advantage and got a lot of editing done while watching the game and eating pizza. Please bear with me this week as I am unsure when my power will be back on and when I will be able to catch up on the blog posts that are stacking up. For now, here is a sneak peak from a beautiful wedding 2 weeks ago.

Two are better than one…

Posted on July 30, 2008

This past Saturday I had the opportunity to shoot a wedding for Ian of Maslov Photography. It was the first time in a long time that I shot a wedding completely solo. Although everything went just fine and I hope to blog some of the images from the wedding sometime soon, it made me realize just how fortunate I am to have Donny by my side for all of the weddings we do. Not only does having two photographers present at a wedding help lower the stress level of the main photographer, it really gives couples a much better representation of their wedding day. Obviously a solo photographer cannot be two places at once and will often miss a great candid moment happening on the other side of the room because he/she is busy composing a different shot. With two photographers, couples get a much broader range of pictures that tell their story. Thank you, Donny, for all of your hard work in helping me pursue my dream…I couldn’t do this without you!

Melanie & Adam ~ married

Posted on July 20, 2008

It has been a crazy couple of weeks since Melanie & Adam’s wedding, so I apologize that I am just now getting the blog post up! Anyway…on to the wedding details!

When I first met with Melanie & Adam back in October, we chatted over coffee at Starbucks and it turned out that I had something in common with both of them. Although I didn’t know her at the time because she graduated a couple of years after me, Melanie is also a DAAP alumni with her Fashion Design degree which she now uses designing clothing for Abercrombie & Fitch. Adam also shares my passion for people with disabilities and works in the special needs field. I knew from our meeting that I was going to enjoy their wedding because Melanie & Adam are so laid back & fun. On top of that, they are pretty good-looking too:)

The day started with “getting ready” pictures at Melanie’s parents house and then we went to Ault Park for the bridal party pictures and the ceremony. Despite the torrential downpour that surprised us as we were taking group shots before the ceremony, the day progressed smoothly. Their wedding took place in the Rose Gardens at Ault Park and it was absolutely beautiful! Their quaint reception at the Sweetwine Banquet Center was also beautiful.

Melanie & Adam ~ your wedding was a blast and I am so glad I had the opportunity to share it with you. Congratulations and I wish you all the best!

I just love this series of Adam that Donny captured:

Melanie was stunning!

The bridesMEN:

The groomsmen (Adam really wanted a “Reservoir Dogs” look):

I was obsessed with the bridesmaid dresses!

The sun was in their eyes, but they were so cute I couldn’t resist posting this one:

Their programs doubled as fans - great idea since it was VERY hot that day!

Pure skill:

Melanie’s grandmother was gorgeous!

I couldn’t help but notice all of the fashionable people during the receiving line:

They had one of the coolest cakes I’ve ever seen:
