Thank You!!

I wanted to give you all an update and share the good news that our fundraiser last weekend was a HUGE success! My women’s small group organized a bowling event in hopes of raising $1500-$2000 for our church building fund, but we managed to raise $5500 instead! We were totally shocked and so very thankful for everyone who came and supported us. I also wanted to extend a special thanks to the following artists who responded to my last blog post and were gracious enough to donate:

Geri Ciulla of Ciulla Photography for donating a portrait session

Gina of Kiwi Street Studios for donating a portrait session

Lauren of OpenField Photography for donating some of her Handmade Lovelies

Brenda of Pottinger Photography for donating one her fine art prints

Anne of Everything Floral for donating two of her silk flower arrangements

Logan of Alternative Motive for donating two “Westside T-shirts”

I totally forgot my camera as I was rushing out the door, so I don’t have any pictures from the event…but luckily Ryan was there and, as always, got some really cool shots:

I am so glad I could help! Congrats on the great event!

Cincinnati Photographers – Donate For a Good Cause

I don’t normally do this kind of thing, but this is very close to my heart and I figured it wouldn’t hurt to at least ask :) The church we attend, Vineyard Westside, has the opportunity to purchase the historical Whitewater Crossing Church building on Glenmore Avenue in Cheviot that we have been renting for the past year and a half. If we cannot raise the finances we are likely to become a homeless church as our current rental agreement will no longer be available after March 1st.

To give you a little background…Vineyard Westside was launched in September 2005 in a coffee house with 40 people in attendance. Today, we average over 600 people during our three weekend services, we have baptized over 120 people, and we continue to outgrow each facility we have rented. While this is a good problem to have, the majority of our congregation is made up of diverse, blue-collar families who have been hit hard by the economy over the last year, making it difficult to pull together all of the funds necessary to make this purchase possible.

As a result, we are hosting several fundraisers to raise money for the purchase of this building. As a part of the fundraisers, we will be holding some reverse raffles and silent auctions and are in need of donations. I wondered if any of you local photographers would be willing to donate a shoot, a gift certificate, a print, or anything else you can think of to help our cause.

(I will beĀ  donating some prints, but not my services due to the fact that our baby will be here in April and I cannot take on any more shooting commitments until after he is here and we get settled into life with a newborn).

Please contact me at kelly@daphnephotostudio.com if you are able to help in any way. Thanks so much!

Glass Envy

I have been drooling over this lens for quite some time now and I’m getting seriously close to dropping the cash to add it to my camera bag. Before I do so, I thought I would ask my fellow photographer friends what your opinion is on the lens and if you think it is worth the hefty price tag. Thanks!

best focal length on a full frame in my opinion…problem is i can’t pry the thing out of jessica’s hands!

I have heard a lot of good comments on this Lens … If I had the money, I’d buy it.

I have also heard that if your not using it for low light situations, the 24-70mm L may be your best bet. (http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EF-35mm-f-1.4-L-USM-Lens-Review.aspx)

I agree. I don’t own it, but I have used a friends before and if I had the money I would definitely buy it. Its on my list for sure.

It’s a BOY!!

The suspense is over…we are thrilled to annouce that we are having a baby BOY :) Even though Donny and I both thought it was going to be a girl, we are excited to have a son. We really didn’t care either way as long as the baby was healthy…and that he is!! Here are a few of the ultrasound pictures and if you want to read all about the “big reveal” dinner party we had, you can check it out on my personal blog at: You Make Me Live

What I’ve Been Up To Lately

Here is a little eye candy to make up for the fact that I have had no time to blog these days :) As much as I would like to blog every session before I get the pictures to my clients, I just do not have time. It is more important for me to get the final images to my clients as fast as I can, so I resist the urge to blog and edit till my eyes are ready to pop out. When my season dies down as we near the end of the year, I will make up for my lack of blogging and go back and blog all of these wonderful sessions and more :) Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
