The other day as I was working on a guest post about composition & cropping for our friend Ryan’s blog, I was digging through images and came across these two that caught my eye. Even though they both have interesting compositions, there is nothing super great about them. The reason they stood out to me was because they took me back to the great trip to Mackinac Island that we took last Summer.
This is not intended to be a commercial for Mackinac or anything, but I definitely recommend going sometime. It was so great to be there – away from the business of my everyday life – in a place that takes you back in time. They do not allow motorized vehicles on the island, so the only way you can get around is to walk, ride a bike, or take a horse & buggy. During the few days we were there, we rode our bikes all around the island and totaled about 35 miles. I had my camera with me in a pouch on the front of my bike the whole time and it was so nice to take pictures just for the fun of it. I really miss taking pictures “just because”…

Hope you all have a great weekend! I have a busy one…boudoir shoot last night, I’m photographing a friend’s jewelery tonight, I have a wedding tomorrow, and a client meeting on Sunday. Maybe somewhere in there I’ll find my sanity…probably not 🙂
