Donny and the rest of the team made it home safe and sound late Tuesday night. I cannot even tell you how happy I am to have Donny back!! Even though I had an incredible amount of peace leading up to and while he was gone, it was still really hard to be away from each other for a week without any communication (other than 2 text messages courtesy of Ryan’s iPhone). I really have so much respect for the men and women (and their loved ones) who serve in the military and have to be away from each other for extended periods of time.
All in all Donny had an amazing trip. He described it as a roller coaster ride…with lots of highs and lows physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Anyone that has ever been on a mission trip similar to this knows exactly how this feels. You are exposed to so much in such a short time that it is a little overwhelming to take in and process. I am so proud of him, though, and I hope he has many more opportunities like this in the future.
I may have more to share once he has time to collect his thoughts and write everything down. For now, here are a few pictures that our good friend Ryan took. Unfortunately Donny was not able to take one of our good cameras because I needed them for a wedding while he was gone, but Ryan was nice enough to let me post some of his :)

So precious!

This is Ryan (the one who took all of these pictures). He is an amazing photographer, cook, and pastor. Donny and I are so blessed to have him and his beautiful family in our lives.
