Three years ago today I married my best friend. I still can’t believe it has been three years already – time certainly does fly the older you get! Donny and I actually met 10 years ago while we were both still in high school. We instantly became school buddies and had a lot of fun in Spanish class together, but that was the extent of our relationship (in my mind). Donny apparently had a crush on me from day 1 and even professed his love to me in the school parking lot when he was 15, but I just never saw him that way.
I graduated from high school (yes I am one year older than Donny) and went off to college and we lost touch almost completely. It wasn’t until several years later during my senior year of college that we re-connected while I was shooting one of my best friend’s weddings. As I was setting up my camera in the balcony of the church, it all of a sudden dawned on me that Donny Smith would be at this wedding because he was good friends with the groom. I instantly became really excited and I couldn’t wait until the reception where we would actually get to talk. I got even more excited after I actually saw him – he was gorgeous! I couldn’t believe he was the same teenage boy from Spanish class!
I had just started dating someone else at that time, but that didn’t last long as I knew I was meant to be with Donny. We started dating shortly after that wedding and have been together ever sinceHe is truly the man of my dreams! Here are a few shots from our wedding (please excuse some of the low-res images):
Here we are making it official!
We got married at the 20th Century Theater in Oakley and it was perfect
Here is a shot a few months after the wedding that my best friend Kim did for us since it was cold on our wedding day and we couldn’t do any outside shots. This is at The Observatory where we got engaged.
Here are a few from our honeymoon in Jamaica…ah to be back there now!
And last, here is what our bedroom looked like when we came home from work today. My sister-in-law pulled this one off and it was very sweet of her. Thanks Jenny!
