I don’t know about anyone else, but I am SO ready for Spring! Although I have to say that Donny and I have definitely been taking advantage of the cold weather down time to get some projects done around our house. With the help of my incredibly talented parents, we were able to totally transform our living room. Our living room was a challenging space due to the large size and window/fireplace locations. We never had a good place to put our TV where it could easily be seen throughout the room until my dad came up with the idea of building an entertainment center that would fit right over our fireplace. Next thing I knew, the building began and the boys had it finished in one weekend. We completed the look with new couches from Abode that just got delivered this week and we are so happy with the way everything turned out!
While the boys were building, my mom and I went to town painting the dining room, kitchen, and bathroom. Once that was done, I got a few new canvases printed, I finished our bedroom, and Donny built some really nice shelves for our basement. I think we are finished with the inside of the house for now and we plan to spruce up the outside this Spring by adding some new landscaping and re-painting the trim work. Oh the joys of being a homeowner 🙂 It can be a lot of work sometimes, but I really am incredibly grateful that I have a home in times like these. So enough writing…here are a few pictures so you can see for yourself what we have been up to.

Here are a few “before” pictures of the fireplace in the living room. I should also mention that the entertainment center was built in such a way that we did not have to ruin the fireplace. All we had to do was take the mantle off, so if we ever wanted to go back to having a fireplace, we can do that pretty easily.
Here’s my dad getting ready to take the mantle off:
