Pay It Forward Dan

*Disclaimer* Dan is NOT an alcoholic πŸ™‚ He just has a healthy obsession with Guinness.

Dan was the second person to respond to my Pay It Forward post and the first of my pay it forward shoots. Since the idea was to be photographed with one of your favorite things (serious or funny), Dan decided Guinness would be perfect. I agreed…I thought his idea was really fun (especially if you know Dan).

Dan is one of my good friends from college. We became friends within the first couple of weeks of our freshman year in DAAP…we were both Fine Art majors and had several classes together. Dan dabbled in photography and was quite good, but he decided to pursue painting and 2D work as his concentration of choice. Now he makes his living doing web design…go figure!

Unfortunately once college was over, our lives took us in somewhat different directions and we haven’t been in touch as much over the last several years. That is one reason why I was so excited about this shoot – I was going to get to hang out with Dan again! Hopefully from now on, we will stay in better touch again πŸ™‚

OK Dan…now pay it forward!!

p.s. –Β  one fun fact about Dan. He (and my best friend/roommate at the time Kim) almost ruined my engagement to Donny. They didn’t do it on purpose, but Kim decided to go to dinner with us at Chipotle and then we ran into Dan while we were there so the three of us started chatting up a storm. Meanwhile, Donny started getting really worried we wouldn’t make it to our “private tour” at the Observatory in time. Thankfully Donny managed to pull me away in time and everything went off without a hitch…good times!

amy tran - Wow, what a small world! I went to high school & worked my summer job with Dan! I was floored when I recognized him (fantastic photos, btw). I suppose it’s actually very easy to play the ‘6 Degrees’ game when you live in Cincy! Fun to hear an update about him too – send a hello. πŸ™‚ Cool project & beautiful work as usual!

Carly - Ahhh the black stuff πŸ˜‰ Now to be truly irish, he needed to be a bit more dishevelled and a bit more bleary in the eye lol! Loving the addition of the cap and cigar, and how you kept the clothing to black and white in honor of Guinness. πŸ˜‰
