Felisha & Mike ~ married
Posted on June 13, 2008
Felisha was like most girls…dreaming of her wedding day for as long as she could remember. She and Mike got engaged back in 2006, so amidst finishing school & traveling to Chile, she had plenty of time to plan for her wedding day. I wish I would have remembered to snap a picture of her wedding notebook/scrapbook so you all could see a glimpse of all of the planning and detail that went into her wedding day. It was filled to the brim with magazine clippings and notes to help her remember every detail. One of the many pictures Felisha was sharing with me was of a wedding ceremony that took place under a giant Oak tree. She said that picture is what inspired her to choose the sunken gardens at Landmark Christian Church as her ceremony & reception location. She, too, was able to say her vows under a big, beautiful Oak tree.
I don’t think my pictures will even do justice to how gorgeous the setting was in person. After threats of rain all day, the evening turned out beautifully. Their ceremony was very intimate and personal as they read their vows to one another and everyone held back tears. Following the vows, Felisha sang “From This Moment On” to Mike and then they held hands as they enjoyed an interpretive dance performed by one their friends.
Felisha decided to divide her wedding coverage up to include a bridal portrait session before the wedding. I would recommend this to all brides! It was a great opportunity for Felisha to get great bridal portraits without feeling stressed or rushed to get everything in on her actual wedding day. She brought her sister Rachel along, and despite a very stubborn zipper, we had a great time getting Felisha all made up for her portraits. We all ended up pretty happy with the results!
Felisha ~ Even though you won’t read this for another couple of weeks [ because she is on her mystery honeymoon that Mike planned as a surprise for her ], I wanted to say thank you for allowing me to share in your BIG DAY. You have grown into a stunning young woman and I couldn’t be happier for you. Congratulations!

Here are some pictures from the bridal session:

Meet Opie
Posted on June 10, 2008
All of my friends & family know that I’ve wanted a Pug for as long as I can remember. There’s just something about those little round bodies and smooshed faces that just melts my heart. Well I’ve found out that I am among the few who actually think Pugs are cute. Donny and I have casually talked off and on ever since we got married about getting a dog, but the timing was never right. More recently, however, we decided that our lives are not quite as busy as they used to be and a puppy would be a great addition to the family. We started researching and agreed that a Miniature Pinscher (Min Pin) would be a good breed for us. We were originally planning to wait until after July 4 to start seriously looking, but a friend told me to check out Petfinder.com and I instantly fell in love with “Opie”…a MinPin/Pug mix awaiting adoption from the True Heart MinPin Rescue organization.
I had no idea that adopting a pet was such a process! I felt like I was adopting a child! I had to fill out an extensive application, submit 2 references, and undergo a home inspection/visit before being approved to adopt a dog. The whole process usually takes weeks to complete, but thanks to the speedy replies from my references, I found out within a week that we were approved pending the home visit. During the waiting period, I was emailing back and forth with Opie’s “foster mom” and growing more and more attached to this little dog I just knew was going to be ours. Needless to say, there was no way I was going to wait until after July 4 to get him, so we scheduled the home visit last Saturday and then my mom and I drove to Lexington to pick Opie up on Sunday.
This entire process has been an amazing experience and I would recommend pet adoption to anyone looking for a pet! The volunteers who work for the rescues are angels and truly care about all of the animals that come through their doors. It is so great to know that you are giving an animal a whole new life filled with love. [Opie was rescued from people who originally planned to use him as pit bull bait to train their pit bulls how to fight - how terrible!]
So without further ado, meet our little bundle of joy, Opie. He is turning 1 year old on June 15 and is fully grown at a whopping 10.5 lbs. He is completely house broken (thanks to his foster mom) and unbelievably well-behaved for his age. He is such a great addition to our family and we couldn’t be happier! I finally got my pug :)

Lesley & Frank ~ married

When Donny and I first arrived at park where Lesley & Frank were married we couldn’t stop commenting on how beautiful it was and how we couldn’t believe we never knew this park existed. George Rogers Clark Park in Covington, KY is a quaint little park located on the riverfront surrounded by absolutely gorgeous homes. I don’t think Lesley & Frank could have picked a more perfect setting to suit their personalities! Their wedding was a very intimate event…they exchanged their vows among a small group of family and friends just as the Red’s game was ending on the other side of the river. After the ceremony, we all walked a few blocks to Chalk Food & Wine for the reception celebration.
Lesley & Frank ~ Congratulations and thank you for allowing me to share in your BIG DAY!

Erin & Doug ~ engaged

I love it when my clients show up for their photo session with a “no limits” kind of attitude. Erin & Doug were the perfect example of a fun loving couple who not only would do just about any crazy thing I asked, but came with quite a few of their own creative ideas. Doug is a hobbyist photographer and asked if he could bring his lensbaby to the shoot for me to play around with. I didn’t quite master the art of shooting with a lensbaby in that short amount of time, but I definitely had a blast trying. This is the kind of session that makes me feel guilty for getting paid…but also makes me so thankful for the opportunity to do what I love! Thanks Erin & Doug!

Here’s one with the lensbaby:
